There are soldiers to fight the monsters, scientists and doctors to find ways to treat the illness it causes... engineers and researchers work to develop new ways to contain it... Everyone is trying to come up with some kind of a plan to save people.
Well... I suppose much of the role involves taking a leading role in rituals and ceremonies, and in communicating with our god. The priestess is also the only one who may go to meet our god in person, and who may use our most revered divine relic.
