Ay. [ He's still pretty reserved re: talking about this but. ] Everything about that city was abnormal.
The man in front of the moon also didn't look very human -- like a person. I think, maybe he looked more like one of your humans actually. Strange hat and feathers, smelled like rot.
I've never seen that sort of thing until then. Now, every other person seems to deal with this normally. I'm not so sure how to take it.
Nice, yes. Our village is beautiful, and while people are always complicated, I consider all who dwell in the islands my family.
But... while crime is not an issue, "safe" is not quite the word, either. We recently faced a series of calamities, as well as threats from beyond our shores.
Those are one of the threats, yes. There was a particularly fearsome one that roamed our seas for many years, making it dangerous to travel to and from the mainland. And others that dwelled on nearby islands...
But I do believe the greatest danger comes from other people. Well... specific people.
[ That's not good. He debates whether to ask or not but he decides well, why not. She can always decide against it if she doesn't want to talk either. ]
They desire our divine relics. Their Church sent people to plunder our culture, stealing our relics from wherever they can find them. One man told me he would have burned my village to the ground, simply to get his hands on one.

[ Just you know, as an addendum. ]
Nothing much about that city made sense since the first dream.

... What first dream?

I saw a strange dream when I fell asleep on the train. Not this one. The one I was on before I came here.
[ He's pretty frank but he does seem hesitant to just continue on and talk about this to Eupha. ]

[ trying to focus on that and not the trains. ]

[ You will quickly notice this is a regular theme for him. ]
I spoke to this other man in front of the moon. He told me about things that were going to happen in that city. Then I woke up.
Everyone else in the train had the same dream.
It was weird.

What brought you to such a strange city in the first place?

[ He looks a bit grim. ]
Not choice. It was just the first train I happened to get on.

You boarded it without knowing the destination?

I was in a rush.

Were you running away from something?

...
From bad people.

[ marcoh and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day ]
What kind of bad people?

Criminals with too much power. Too hard to deal with in the city itself.

Truthfully, it shook my faith in the goodness of people, that one could be so cruel without a second thought.

[ Very PG-13 language but he wasn't sure what to say. He's not so intense as to call people outright evil, most of the time. ]
I do think there's good people though. Even if at large, it doesn't look like it.
