Well, this week ended up bein' a proper mess, but I doubt the next will have much more downtime, so. Figured we should go ahead and talk about what we want to do about goin' back to our world. The optimal timing's gonna depend on how we intend to approach Louis.
[ but-- oh. he blinks at the mention of louis and then glances at the two of them. ] Uhh-- I dunno if they're gonna stop believin' Louis caused that curse without gettin' their chance at him first, Del. Best thing I can think of there is makin' sure those kids're out of the audience before Louis can use 'em as a threat again.
Yeah, that was my first thought. We wait in the audience instead of in the wings this time, and we can get everyone out of the building soon as he takes Forden out. Don't know that he wouldn't just take aim at one of Will's crew instead, if they're the only ones left in there, but. It's an option.
[ ... ]
I was thinkin' though, if we go back to the night before... now that we know what Zorba and Louis have in mind, we might be able to get the real lance back. Might be able to give the assassination plot a second try, either at the ceremony or some other time, with us as the ones on the inside helpin' to set it up.
Problem with that is then we'd still have Forden to deal with. But maybe if Lady Rella comes clean to the public about what really happened... that might diminish his support enough.
Thing is, Forden'll keep bein' a problem long as he's alive. Even if Lady Rella tells everythin' like she did before, if he's alive people are gonna cling to him. And he'll keep being a racist bloody asshole, jumpin' up and down and pullin' shady shite if things don't go his way.
And if we take him out instead of Louis, that's a giant target on our back from the Sanctist church.
[ eupha is too polite to interrupt. but her thoughts still end up chiming in with the curse was not louis?? and summoning up what few things she knows about saint rella... ]
... Is there no other way to deal with Forden?
[ she doesn't like planning murders.... why are there so many good reasons to murder certain people..... ]
—Oh, yeah, apparently Forden blackmailed Saint Rella into doin' it for him when she was just a kid.
[ shakes his head. ]
Frankly, I wanna see the bastard die no matter what happens, but... I'm just thinkin' that if it's after she tells the truth, and you've got the prince himself there to speak to the public, if we can get in there before he runs his mouth and makes his excuses, there might be a window where public opinion turns against him enough that cuttin' him down would be seen as justice, a little like that sanctoress.
We'd also have the lance. Bein' able to kill him isn't the problem so much as mitigating the potential political fallout from it. Which is why, yeah, doin' it right then when everybody's still reeling, that'd probably be ideal.
Nah, Louis' already did somethin' to him. He's all fucked up under that cloak of his. Part Human an' all. It took the lot of us to deal with him later, and even then we didn't end up takin' him out.
[ junah is always right. (marcoh voice) you don't act like a soldier, and then a few days later he's just casually planning an assassination ]
... Perhaps that would work in our favour, though?
Should he act out in the moment, and we are the ones to stop him and not Forden nor his men, those who trust in Forden's protection may find their hearts moved in a different direction.
[ thinking about how she doesn't really like baiting this sad louis stan to his demise but this is where we are, this is what she's becoming. ]
That's a good point, actually. Might be bad if we actually have to fight him, but as long as we've managed to get the lance back, we could probably rely on the king's magic to take care of him.
[ he hates that fucking king but his magic is really coming in clutch in these scenarios ]
Destroyin' his reputation might work? Lady Rella's a popular lady. People'll listen to her. [ ... ] But Louis killin' him worked out well. Hell, all you'd need to do is getting him swingin' for Will with the fake lance. King's magic'll do the rest.
[ but. oh.
right. spoilers, eupha. ] Uh... yeah. Louis weren't the one who cursed the prince, it was Lady Rella, under blackmail orders from Forden.
[ yikes at that???? sometimes you grow up hearing lots of outlandish stories about how evil the sanctists are, and you figure they're bad, but probably not that bad, and then it turns out they're actually worse. man.
w6, friday

If we got to him before he could haul Louis off and heal him... even if it missed his heart, he still should've died without intervention.
